Merging, Filtering, and Sorting

Introduction

Subgroups may be merged, filtered, and sorted chronologically from the Data Management dialog. To open the Data Management dialog click the Data Managment icon located on the toolbar.

Merging Parts

To merge parts, select the Merge tab. Select all parts to merge, eneter a name for the merged part in the text entry field labeled Name, and press the Merge button.  Avance will merged data together for all variables with identical names that exist within the selected parts. Only variables with identical names will be merged.  A new part will be created that contains the merged data.

Sorting Subgroups Chronologically

Subgroups may be sorted chronologically from the Manage Data dialog. To sort data chronologically select the Sort Data tab.

The left-hand window contains the part list (parts, and processes) and the right-hand window contains the variables from the selected part or process.

Select a part or process from the left-hand window, and a variable from the right-hand window. Press the Sort button to sort the data chronologically. If the data does not contain time/date data it will not be sorted.

Filtering Subgroups

Subgroups may be deleted using filters. Filters delete all subgroups that apply to the selected condition and value; the conditions are: equal to, less than, less than or equal to, greater than, and greater than or equal. To apply a filter select a part from the left-hand window and a variable from the right-hand window. Select a condition from the choice drop down menu labeled Delete Values. Enter a numerical value in the text entry field and press the Apply button.
