Avance SPC
Avance SPC is the fundamentals of statistical process control
with additional tools and devices to help acquire data
from tools and devices (such as PLC's, CMM's, serial
devices. erc.), process in real time, track process changes, and communicate to
you and automated processes in real time so that you can take
immediate action. It was designed to be hands free, i.e.,
once it is setup it will run in the background without
user interaction. Avance SPC also includes data
management tools, a logbook to track process changes,
and a scripting environment for data analysis.
Getting data into Avance is easy. A text entry box located on the main screen takes numerical input.
Simply entering data and hitting the 'return' key loads a single data point. Each time a data point is loaded statistical
control is re-evaluated automatically and in real time. The video below displays Avance collecting data from a
device via a USB port.
Using Avance's image windows you can display schematics, drawings, blueprints, or any image alongside control charts and spreadsheets.
Users can visually confirm that they are measuring the correct part feature, and prevent themselves from mistakenly entering the wrong data.
Variable and characteristic data may be input directly into a spreadsheet. After data is entered, the selected cell moves down automatically
ready for the next input. Common characteristics may be linked between variables or autocopied from previous cells, making data entry
fast and easy.
Data may be loaded from Excel spreadsheets.
Connect to an OPC server and collect data from PLC's or another process control device.
Connect to any serial or USB device to collect data automatically. Avance has an easy to use device setup dialog that allows
users to collect data from almost any serial or USB device.
Record process changes using Avance's Logbook. Easily input dates, identifiers, and log entries into a compact dialog. Each logbook entry
may be displayed on control charts, allowing users to identify and eliminate causes of process variation.
Analyzing data is performed automatically in Avance. Control status is shown in the upper right
hand corner of the screen and out of control points are marked with a red 'x'. Capability ratios, histograms, and
statistical control are updated in real time as data is input into Avance. Subgroups information may be read from the spreadsheet
or by clicking on any subgroup within the control charts.
Avanve identifies out-of-spec samples on control charts, in real-time, using a bold red 'x'. Users may quickly identify
out-of-spec samples and take immediate action.
Avanve identifies out-of-control subgroups on control charts, in real-time, using a bold orange 'x'. Users may quickly identify
out-of-control samples and take immediate action.
Avanve identifies the status of a process using a large bold indicator in the upper right hand corner of the screen. The status
indicator identifies 'out of control', 'out of spec', or 'out of control and out of spec' processes.
Avance may be setup to respond to an out-of-spec or out-of-control process status using OPC communications, allowing it
to be directly integrated into your automated process. Using Avance OPC Process Response, and Avance OPC Data Input devices you can
collect data automatically, and automatically respond to real time process variations.
Probe control charts with the mouse pointer to instantly view subgroup information, such as the collection data/time, samples, and
various statistics.
Sort data chronolgically, alphabetically, or numerically using Avance's sorting features. Also, users may filter numerical data using logical
operators.
Perform your own analysis using the Python scripting language. Avance features a Python scripting environment that allows users
to perform their own calculations and create their own custom graphs/charts.
Communicating results is made easy with Avance's exporting features. Avance may export images,
web documents, or print charts and spreadsheets at the click of a button. The spreadsheet prints with a canned report including
relevant capability information.
Recording changes to a process helps to identify special causes of variation.
With Avance, users can record process changes within a logbook and view each entry on the control charts. Avance will even plot
the data and logbook entries against the date and time of each data sample. Using Avance's logbook and control charts is
a good way to help identify sources of variation.
The most important part of SPC is taking action, i.e., doing something to improve your process.
Often this requires you knowing exactly when a special cause has
occurred or a part is out of spec. Avance can communicate
to you and also your automated process so that you can take action in real time. Avance can communicate to any controller
(such as a PLC) via OPC servers, modbus/TCP, or serial
connection (RS-232). When Avance
detects an out of spec part or an out of control
process, it communicates to your automated process so it
can take action in real time. Avance may also send email in the case
of out of spec or out of control processes.
